Housekeepers get swept up at celebrations
MISSISSIPPI — Held every year during the second full week of September, Environmental Services Week or International Housekeepers Week is a time dedicated to recognizing the efforts of hard-working custodial staff members. Mississippi casinos celebrated their housekeeping teams in a variety of ways.
“As a company, we celebrate Housekeeping Week to show our deep appreciation for the tireless job the housekeeping employees do on a day-to-
day basis,” said Terence Holland, executive housekeeper at Hard Rock Biloxi. “We
want them to know we greatly value their efforts, and their contribution to serving our guests does not go unnoticed. Our guests greatly value a clean casino, restaurants, restrooms, and hotel rooms.”
Hard Rock treated EVS and hotel housekeeping employees to a special meal, prizes and games as a thank you for their hard work.
Also in Biloxi, Palace Casino Resort treated housekeepers to lunch and gave each of the associates a $100 Walmart gift card. And at Golden Nugget, the

housekeeping team was shown just how much their dedication, commitment and hard work means. The week kicked off with a special breakfast for the entire department. Supervisors recognized top performers
and a spotlight was placed on many of the employees throughout the week. There was also a luncheon where prizes, including TVs, electronics and gift cards totaling more than $3,000, were given away. The week was wrapped up with goody bags for everyone.
Treasure Bay celebrated its housekeeping and EVS teams with fun games, prizes and a pizza party. The men and women work tirelessly to ensure there is a clean and
safe environment for
guests and fellow crewmembers, said a housekeeping supervisor, who continued, “Without these dedicated people, we could not enjoy the success we have.”
In Vicksburg, housekeeping appreciation week at WaterView Casino Hotel included
an ice cream party with gifts for all housekeeping staff. “The housekeeping staff plays an essential role in maintaining a standard throughout the hotel and casino ensuring that the guests have a positive experience from start to finish keeping the property looking clean and fresh. Without these valuable team members, we would be unable to provide the environment we want for our guests,” said Housekeeping Supervisor Brenda Rawson (inset),
who happily scooped ice cream for her
employees.
“[The housekeeping
team’s] attention to detail and dedication
to doing the best job they can for our guests is definitely worth celebrating. It is not
an easy job to clean up after others, and it is one for which we are grateful to have such a dedicated and
effective team of performers,” Rawson continued.
