GEORGIA’S CORNER MARKET
Owner Laura Pylate and her daughter, Georgia, after whom Georgia’s Corner Market is named, are serving up their takes on familiar classics. Each day, the restaurant receives calls inquiring about the daily special – the most sought-after being the NOLA BBQ shrimp and grits.
While the shrimp and grits is preferred among locals, Laura’s personal favorite is the Tex Mex Burger. The patty is a blend of brisket, short rib and ground beef mixed with the house seasoning blend. In addition to the high-quality meat, Laura tops this burger with house-made pimento choose, bacon and, the real showstopper, homemade candied jalapeños – yum!
Made-in-house favorites such as the pimento cheese and chicken salad are typically available for purchase in the take-home coolers that line the front wall of the restaurant. Also be sure to check out what’s “on the counter” that day – AKA what’s available in the bakery. You can’t go wrong with any of Laura’s delectable treats!
The remodeled grocery store is plenty big for events too. The space can be rented out after hours for events big and small. In addition, the restaurant has several tables set aside for local goods including pottery and, if you’re lucky, some of Laura’s candied jalapeños.
Whether you’re in the Vancleave area or not, Georgia’s Corner Market is worth the trip!
