BOAT DRINKS BAR
The Boat Drinks Bar at Marina Cantina restaurant
may be the world’s smallest oyster bar but it’s big on atmosphere, tasty boat cocktails and avorful, fresh seafood. It’s a cool spot where boaters can dock and watch the oyster shuckin’ and grillin’ before they chow down.
Here, where the saying is that beautiful sunsets on Bernard Bayou are better with a drink, the Boat Drinks Bar, which opened on February 16, is a fun option for enjoying those drinks. It’s the newest addition to the popular restaurant.
“The Boat Drinks Bar is an anchored, oating party barge,” says Manager Ben Kaufman. “It’s the world’s smallest oating oyster bar and we welcome guests to come enjoy it. Also, it’s available to rent for parties or special events seven days a week.”
A 30-foot skimmer barge is the base for the new bar that Kaufman says was a collaborative idea brought about by many years of boating throughout the Florida Keys, Caribbean and Bahamas by the owner and his management team. “It’s a one-of-a-kind addition to not only Marina Cantina in Gulfport but to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and surrounding areas,” he added.
The Boat Drinks Bar is docked in the restaurant’s marina and accessible by their dock on foot or boaters can pull up on the water.
“We are featuring signature Boat Drinks and cold local beer and serving oysters, boiled shrimp, boiled craw sh, smoked tuna dip and cool specialty drinks,” Kaufman said.
He noted that Marina Cantina has been fortunate to have had a great ‘honeymoon period’ for its opening
in spite of the pandemic. “And that has stretched out
due to the warmer weather we’ve had. We’ve aimed to capture the atmosphere of your favorite tropical hideaway combined with a coastal air like no other.”
