BREAKING BARRIERS:
INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
TMCF Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) programs tap into the future of diverse global innovators, allowing HBCUs and PBI students to cultivate what is needed to shake up the world through technology solutions. We offer three essential I&E functions: The Pitch, signature programs and innovation challenges, which all teach business acumen incorporated with creativity and technology, fundamentals for both intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs.
ALLY MOGULS IN THE MAKING
Moguls in the Making is a signature I&E event where TMCF, Ally and the Sean Anderson Foundation team up to discover the best and brightest entrepreneurial minds attending HBCUs. The 72-hour competitive event challenges students to develop innovative solutions that support economic mobility across a variety of industries.
The entrepreneurial pitch competition provided 60 students from 15 HBCUs with the privilege to absorb wisdom from entertainment celebrities Big Sean and Terrence J and the chance to compete for scholarship money.
Students were asked to develop a concept to support economic mobility in Charlotte and create a business plan to put those ideas into action. Each team presented their concept to a panel of judges, who awarded prizes to the top three teams based on the pitch. Members of those top teams each received a scholarship for the 2024 school year, guaranteed offers of a paid internship at Ally for summer 2024 and other prizes to support their education.
TOP THREE TEAMS FOR 2023 AND THEIR PITCH CONCEPTS WERE:
First Place: N.C. A&T State University
Second Place: North Carolina Central University
Third Place: Texas Southern University
