Pam Eernisse, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, was inspired in her career because her father was in healthcare and brought the rewards of being able to help others to her attention.
Her entrepreneurship led her to start her own successful practices in Chicago giving her an opportunity to portray women holding executive leadership roles in the medical field. Dr. Eernisse opened her first practice 21 years ago, Forestmed Podiatry, that she still owns and Michigan Avenue Podiatry she opened 12 years ago and recently sold last year.
Dr. Eernisse is excited about the new opportunity to
join Foot Specialists of South Mississippi and owner Dr. Charles Caplis to continue making a positive impact in healthcare as she enters a new chapter of her medical career. Since joining the Mississippi practice she has already taken a leadership role on the Mississippi Podiatric Medical Association Board.
Raising her son is her greatest personal success. In
fact, being a single parent while in medical school and graduating Cum Laude was one of the biggest obstacles she’s overcome. “Be confident and know your worth,” she says to young female entrepreneurs. “The more woman owned businesses and the more women in leadership roles, the more respect and trust people will have in women business owners.”
Something interesting about Dr. Eernisse is that she won a second place state trophy in Iowa for girls tennis doubles in high school.
“Being from the land-locked Midwest, I love all the seafood and Southern cooking here,” she says. “Lady May is my favorite restaurant so far, but I look forward to exploring more restaurants and checking out the barrier islands.”
Seeing her son graduate from college after raising him as a single mother really was a special moment that helped justify all the hard work and sacrifice it took to get to where she is today in a successful practice with amazing patients.
