Sherry Owen opened her real estate company, Owen and Co. Real Estate, in 2002. She was inspired to initially go into real estate by a friend, and Owen thought about how her husband’s family had been in the profession, so the prospect appealed to her. “Once I entered real estate, I was excited, and it just came naturally to me!” she says.
Owen loves the industry and is passionate about it. “I have enjoyed watching the coast grow economically and in population and I would like to think that I have been a small part of that,” Owen says. “I have tried to set beneficial examples for my children
and grandchildren.” Owen is proud of the fact that she has been able to assist clients for years and develop friendships with their children and family members.
Her advice for young women interested in business is to cultivate their knowledge. “You must be dedicated, unselfish, and practice the belief that your work or business is a profession,” Owen explains. She believes it is important to support women in business regardless of the venture because
every woman goes through the same challenges of competing in a man’s world. “We should support other women, set examples for others, and assist one another as needed.”
