Lots of families have members who bear
resemblances, but in some cases it’s striking. Such is the case with some local mothers and daughters who say they often get comments about it.
Megan Jalanivich
It happens to Shelby Seymour who works at the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum with her mother, Executive Director Robin David. “Sometimes visitors who haven’t seen Robin in a long time come in and
they will say hey to me thinking I’m her, and I have to explain who I am. People often say we look like sisters,” Seymour said.
Seymour thinks it’s a great compliment and enjoys working with her mother and sister Megan Jalanivich, who is the executive assistant. “I worked as a sea-n- sail camp counselor in high school and during college. After graduating college and several jobs later, I found myself back at the new museum as the admission/sales manager,” she says. “Our beautiful new building makes me so happy receiving compliments on a daily basis about the museum and all that my amazing mother has
accomplished.”
Sometimes family similarities are not just about
physical appearance as David’s daughter Megan
Jalanivich knows. “People say we sound alike when we answer the phone and our laugh; they can’t tell
us apart,” Jalanivich said. “I love that she’s my boss because she has a very strong work ethic, always has a positive attitude and never gives up.”
