Community Events Coordinator Suzanne Kinsey is working hard with community leaders and businesses to showcase all the downtown amenities. The award-winning Anchor Square continues to entice shoppers and diners downtown. Located at 303 Delmas Avenue in the heart of downtown, Anchor Square is a collection of 16 Mississippi Cottages arranged around a charming boardwalk and town green. The cottages are home to an eclectic mix of shops, galleries, restaurants and studios.
Offering outdoor fun for families is the Historic Pascagoula Bike Trail which follows a historic tour of the City. The trailhead sign is located at Lighthouse Park on Fredric Street. It provides a unique combination of cycling, nature, history, and coastal culture for all ages and abilities. Among the historic points of interest is the LaPointe-Krebs House, the oldest standing building in the Mississippi Valley.

An example of something new are Third Fridays, a free monthly themed event in downtown Pascagoula. It’s held on the third Friday of the month and features live music, local artists, activities, and community partner booths. Downtown stores and restaurants stay open late with sales and specials. Themes include Dog Days of Summer, Urban Artscapes, Galactic Adventures, Let’s Play Ball, Water World.
“We’re always exploring innovative ways to bring people downtown,” the city’s Public Relations Specialist Ravin Nettles said. “Third Fridays is proving to be popular and people are enjoying it.”
Also being enjoyed are the Public Art Murals, which have added colorful mosaics to the downtown area. Artists Alan Watson and Brenda Kitchens have created art with coastal themes. Watson’s mural, “A River Song” is on the north side of the City Hall. Kitchen’s mural, is in the courtyard on the east side of the building.
