COASTNOTES
Mississippi Roots, an eclectic local gallery, officially opened its doors last month with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Owners Brandy Waltman and Lisa Jackson have been friends since
high school, remaining close friends through the years and bonding over their shared love for all things vintage.
“As we’ve grown older, we’ve gained a deeper appreciation for our Gulf Coast, our culture and our beautiful state,” Jackson said. “Mississippi
is rich with so much culture and talent. For the past five years, we’ve always talked about having a small shop where we could offer quality items that are made in Mississippi by small, family owned businesses and independent artists.”
The store is a reflection of Waltman’s and Jackson’s shared passion not only for antiques, but for the place they call home. “Our goal is to showcase the many talents of Mississippians as well
as to offer quality items at affordable prices,” said Waltman. “From the Delta to the Coast, we offer anything from all natural products to custom designed, one-of-a-kind pieces of decor and furniture.”
“We are proud of where we are from and who we are,” Waltman said,“and we are very excited to offer these unique, Mississippi-made items.
