Daily Guided Tours
now available in Ocean Springs story by Lynn Lofton
There’s something new in Ocean Springs — daily tours taking in the scenic beauty, attractions and historical facts of the city. The tours include a one-hour Cultural History Walking Tour; a two-hour Scenic Bicycling Tour; a three- hour Discovery Guided Kayak Tour; and a two-hour Sight-Seeing Driving Tour. Islander Outfitters’ interpretive naturalists/guides lead the tours that will take place year round.
“We’re excited to offer something new, interesting and fun to the mix of things we have here,” Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, Main Street, Tourism Bureau Executive Director Cynthia Sutton said. “These tours incorporate so much of the essence of our area. There’s something for everyone!”
Tour participants will learn about the historic Downtown District, waterways and beaches. There will be entertaining stories of the town’s history including Native Americans, early settlers, completion of the railroad and the advent of the tourism and seafood industries. The tours also include information on the local art community and possibly interactions with local artists.
