Chair Side Concierge Service Coming to Chuck Kelly Salon & Spa
“The big change is that we’re virtually eliminating the front desk,” owner/stylist Chuck Kelly said. “We’re trying to enhance the guest experience and make it flow more smoothly.”
As clients enter they will still be greeted, but the guest coordinators will come to them for check in. Kelly says
these employees will not be stuck behind a desk. “The guest coordinators will deliver chair side concierge service, meaning they come to the guests for check out and scheduling of future appointments. They can bring take-home products to the chair too. In this way, customer service is more integrated with guests. The coordinators will have wireless connection to software for ease in taking payments and we don’t foresee any problems.”
Everything will be done at the chair where guests are receiving services. “The intention is to streamline salon visits,” Kelly said.
He has observed the concept in other places and thinks his salon may be the first on the Coast to use the process. “We have a lot
of clients who are super busy, who schedule appointments a year in advance. This method will help them,” he notes.
The salon’s 20 employees are embracing the change. There will be additional training on wireless tablets and processing credit cards. “The technology piece is easy for our employees,” Kelly said. “The concierge service is more in keeping with what people have in other types of
businesses that are going to this concept.”
