ROMANCE & WEDDING
PAV & BROOME FINE JEWELRY

For many years Pav & Broome Fine Jewelry has been known as “Where the Coast gets engaged,” but this designation is for everyone, not just brides-and grooms-to-be. Whether engaging in conversation with the friendly and ever-helpful sales staff or becoming completely enthralled in the newest designer lines, there is a way for everyone to become engaged at Pav & Broome.
One of the easiest ways to do just that is by working closely with the sales and design team to create something truly unique and special, whatever the occasion. When customers have images of what they want, the team can create it completely from beginning to end, or they can work with pre-made mountings and add the finishing touches.
“We can truly make it if we know there’s nothing out there with all
the desired elements,” said Vanessa Edwards, who’s been with the store since 1994. “Or we can work in these elements and put in the stones you want.”
Using existing mountings can save money for customers. “We have a really experienced sales staff that’s great about helping customers save time and money,” Edwards said. Sometimes she gives customers “homework” to research and discern the style they want.
She gives an example of a man who
recently wanted to surprise his wife of 10 years with a replacement ring for Christmas. “He was specific in that he wanted a heart shaped diamond in the center with ruby or sapphire accents and what he called ‘fancy sides,’” she said. “He sent some images and we were able to set these stones into an existing mounting.”
Using a computer-aided design program for jewelry, Matthew and Tyler Pav can build designs and complete pieces of jewelry from start to finish. “Working with original designs or upgrading existing pieces involves a lot of math,” Edwards said. “Sometimes we can’t use old mountings and have to tell people about structure; it’s a creative challenge.”
The most requested service is for re-vamping of rings. “Customers want them to look like new,” Edwards said. “We can’t use old metal but do use the stones. Maybe it’s putting a solitaire
in a new setting and adding a halo of little diamonds around it. Or maybe
a man wants to give his wife a bigger diamond.”
Edwards notes the changing trends in jewelry, such as seeing more yellow and rose gold. Another trend is layering more delicate jewelry. “Things are not big and bulky anymore,” she said. “There are textures in metal and satin finishes versus shiny finishes.”
The trends and styles in jewelry change from time to time, but the desire to wear something beautiful
or have an heirloom or statement piece transcends the test of time. Your jewelry can too with a complete upgrade or well-designed update.
