finding new uses for old things.
This homeowner doesn’t like the ‘70s era folding closet
doors and took them down in the bedrooms. In the guest room that’s used by visiting family members, she turned the closets into stylish nooks with sliding barn-style doors. The built-in bunk beds are meant for comfort and include phone chargers.
In the master bedroom, she uses tie-back drapes to replace the folding closet doors. The bed’s headboard was built by Angela and her dad from fence boards.
Pallet wood was used to give character and texture to one wall of the bathroom. A cast-off dresser was updated with chalk paint before having a sink added.
An unusual calendar for keeping track of family birthdays and anniversaries hangs in the hallway. Following directions she found on a website, Angela painted the board and included the months of the year. Small round tags with days and other pertinent information hang from hooks under each month.
Out back, Angela has a ‘she shed’ and a chicken coop with a variety of chickens. Amusing gnomes live underneath a large oak tree and even have their own house built into the base of the tree.
Angela is a nurse at Ocean Springs Hospital. She and Tony share their home with two lovable dogs, Buster and Groucheaux.
