dIY is a concept that Angela Casanave takes seriously. This do-it-yourself Ocean Springs homeowner was determined to give her dad’s 1970s home some updates and her personal stamp
of decorating. She and husband Tony bought the house when her dad vacated it to go into assisted living.
“I wanted to make it ours,” Angela says, “and I like to tackle projects myself.”
The first changes came to the exterior with some needed landscaping and fresh paint to give the brick ranch-style house a more modern look. Just inside the front door, she hung dark green grasscloth on the foyer walls. On one side, a wall and barn-style doors were added to set off the home office where Tony has left a blank wall spot for the deer head he hopes to mount. Currently, the walls sport two mounted squirrels, many family photos and a large grouping of historical figures’ photos around the window seat. Tony, a security guard at Ingalls Shipbuilding, is a
