Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell
“Together, we will continue to see Pascagoula rise and
we will be Pascagoula Proud for years to come.”
YEAR IN REVIEW 2019
Pascagoula is on the rise thanks to a hard working Mayor and City Administration. “I am extremely proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the last two and a half years and 2019 in particular,” said Mayor Dane Maxwell. “Our community partners like Main Street and the Pascagoula Redevelopment Authority have really stepped up to the plate in helping us lay the foundation for a better Pascagoula. We have announced several projects this year that are really going to improve the quality of life for our residents and bring in some new faces in as well.”
In the spring of 2019, Pascagoula kicked
off festival season with Free Flowin’ on the Riverfront at Pascagoula’s newly improved Lighthouse Park. Free Flowin’ is a free music, food and arts festival that celebrates the beauty of the Pascagoula River – a unique asset to our City as it is the last and largest free-flowing river in the United States. More improvements to Lighthouse Park were announced by the City this year which will allow events like Free Flowin’ to continue to grow and attract new eyes to Pascagoula.
In the fall of 2019, Main Street Pascagoula brought back an event series to downtown Pascagoula called Third Fridays. Third Fridays were held from 5 to 8 p.m. on the third Friday of every month. The event offers live music and family friendly activities, but the main goal is to get people to leave work and head downtown to enjoy a meal or drink, or to shop at one of the many local shops. Be on the lookout for the spring 2020 lineup of Third Fridays in Downtown Pascagoula!
The Courtyards at City Dock is a major project that the City of Pascagoula was proud to be a part of in 2019 and it’s still only in the beginning phases. Thanks to a partnership with the Pascagoula Redevelopment Authority, Pascagoula’s Riverfront is on the rise. This
new riverfront community will soon be a mixed residential and commercial development in
the heart of downtown Pascagoula walking distance from shopping and dining. The City of Pascagoula’s administration and staff work every day to poise our City for progress by bringing in developers and investors to help bring our local economy to the next level.
Although Mayor Maxwell has been elected
as the Public Service Commissioner for
the Southern District, he is still involved in completing a number of development projects in the city. “I look forward to coming back to my hometown and seeing new amenities like the new ball fields, the off ramp to River Park, the Market Street traffic signal
project and more,” he says.
