I am pleased to present the Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association’s (MGHA) Annual Report reflecting on the past year. Gaming performance in 2024 once again proved to be another success story for gaming in Mississippi.
Our 2024 Annual Report offers a detailed analysis of the Mississippi gaming market. It serves as a messenger of facts, figures, folks, and fun. Our purpose is to inform our public officials, gaming employees, associate members, and the public about the economic role our industry continues to have on our state in terms of gaming revenue, tax revenue, jobs, and tourism.
This comprehensive review is a complete guide, providing key decision makers with vital statistics and information. This data gives industry partners a glimpse into the positive impact we have here in the state.
Many in our state believe that what our industry accomplishes
is effortless. Tennis legend Roger Federer once spoke about
how it frustrates him when commentators call his tennis play
“effortless.” He points out, “Effortless is a myth; the truth is I had to work very hard... to make it look easy.” The same can be said about our industry; it looks effortless, but many work long hours to make decisions vital to placing gaming as one of the top industries in the state. Without this effort we would not have the world-class resort destination of which we are so proud.
Rep. Casey Eure, chair of the House Gaming Committee, and Sen. David Blount, chair of the Senate Gaming Committee, both provide sound insight and commitment to the gaming industry. Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) Executive Director Jay McDaniel leads the MGC with a fair but firm approach.
MGHA is proud to promote Responsible Games Training to its members and employees. The MGHA will continue to look for better ways to support efforts to assist those negatively impacted by compulsive gambling.
MGHA has our annual Hall of Fame event in May and golf tournament in October. Please consider attending one or both events. This is a great opportunity for you to network with casino executives while having fun.
Thanks to Penny Bankston, our outgoing MGHA chair, for her time and leadership during 2024. She was a steady hand during challenging times. And, we welcome the incoming MGHA chair, Toni Burns. She is general manager of Sam’s Town in Tunica, has a wealth of knowledge in gaming, and we are confident she will provide the leadership required by the MGHA in 2025.
