The Mississippi Gaming & Hospitality Association held two events in 2024
that brought together casino executives, community leaders and industry associates. Four individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the gaming industry were inducted into the Mississippi Gaming Hall of Fame in June, and in October, the second Casino Cup Golf Tournament took place at the Vicksburg Country Club.
Inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame for 2024 were Tim Hinkley, who received the Industry Pioneer honor; Jon Lucas, Industry Influencer; and the late William “Bill” Gresham Jr. and his son Thomas “Tom” Gresham, who were both honored as Industry Regulatory/Government Officials.
Later in the year, teams
competed for the second
annual golf award. The
Silver Slipper Casino Hotel
team — Chuck Barras,
David Pisarich, Rich
Chase, and David Boyd —
came in first place, followed by a team from the Mississippi Gaming Commission in second. The team from Island View Casino Resort, last year’s winner, came in third.
Donations were collected allowing the MGHA to make a $500 donation to the Mississippi Center for Police and Sheriffs. This nonprofit organization provides shelter, safety, and outreach services to victims of violent crime, domestic violence and human trafficking, in addition to serving at-risk youth, the medically vulnerable and others.
The event began with a welcome reception the night before, followed the next morning by breakfast, the golf tournament, lunch and an awards ceremony.
