“2024 has been a remarkable year for our industry, and the future of gaming in 2025 is looking brighter than ever! With the election year behind us, we are optimistic about the strengthening economy and the opportunities it brings for both operators and our loyal players. As technology continues to advance at an impressive pace, we eagerly anticipate the innovative products our vendors are developing. Our ability to provide exceptional entertainment to the patrons of Mississippi is something we take
great pride in, and we remain committed to constantly enhancing the gaming experience. Moreover, we should not overlook the organizations we’ve supported through service and donations. Our industry has consistently demonstrated an outstanding commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.”
~ Penny Bankston, vice president and general manager WaterView Casino Hotel, Vicksburg
“This year Mississippi’s gaming industry did what it does best: thrive and maintain standards of excellence in the face of adversity. Economic hardships and increased competition from neighboring states proved challenging, but were met with the integrity, creativity, and perseverance for which Mississippi’s gaming industry has become well-known. To maintain our success and remain competitive, it is imperative that our market evolve with the times and offer the products that continue to keep our guests entertained.”
~ Toni Burns, vice president and general manager Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Tunica
“2024 was another great year for our industry! We continue to face new challenges related to the ongoing expansion of gaming around the country, both in terms of new brick-and-mortar casinos and various forms of online gaming, which is spreading across the states. While we continue to study online sports betting, our focus remains on the quality of the casino resorts, our team members offering exceptional customer service, providing high quality hotel rooms and dining options, increasing flights to our area, and marketing the many amenities and special events offered across Mississippi throughout the year. We are so fortunate to be part of this tremendous industry supporting both the local economies and the overall state economy.”
~ Mike Bruffey, vice president/general counsel Island View & Beach View Casino Resorts, Gulfport
“Over the course of years, the gaming landscape in Mississippi has evolved significantly, showcasing both advantages and challenges. On the positive side, the state experienced a surge in revenue from expanded gaming options, mainly sports betting. Sports betting has attracted a diverse demographic of players and boosted local economies. However, on the other hand, as we look at additional options, it’s crucial to strike a balance to avoid over-saturation, which could lead to cannibalization among existing gaming establishments. Nevertheless, I am confident that Mississippi will remain a leading destination for gaming, creating jobs, enhancing tourism, and enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike.”
