Feeding the Gulf Coast
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi donated $2,500 to the Feeding the Gulf Coast’s Backpack Program. This donation allowed 20 Harrison County school children to receive weekend backpacks, which consist of easy-to- prepare food for the weekend. One in four children along the Gulf Coast
struggle with hunger. During the school week, most of these children depend on the free program offered by their school. Sometimes, the meals at school are the only ones they get. When the school closes its doors on Friday afternoons, many of these children go home to empty cupboards, which is why the backpack program is so important.
