Charities win with Boyd Gaming competition
MISSISSIPPI — Mississippi’s two Boyd Gaming properties participated
in the company-wide Wreaths of Hope charitable competition in December. The competition had nonpro t organizations designing holiday wreaths for a chance to receive donations as employees and guests voted on the best wreaths.
Sam’s Town Tunica and IP
Casino Resort Spa both donated thousands of dollars to charities
in their communities. In Tunica, six organizations decorated wreaths,
with the local American Cancer Society taking  rst place and receiving $3,000. The Tunica Humane Society came in second place and received $1,500 and Sacred Heart Southern Missions  nished third and received $500.
Along the Gulf Coast, IP Casino awarded $10,000 to a dozen organizations. The Humane Society of South Mississippi came in  rst place and received $3,000. The Salvation Army came in second place, receiving
$2,500, followed by the Mississippi Center for Autism and Related Developmental Disabilities, third, $2,000: Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi- Ocean Springs, fourth, $1,000; and Lynn Meadows Discover Center,  fth, $450. Seven other organizations, including Make-A- Wish, Biloxi Excel by 5, Feeding
the Gulf Coast, Gulf Coast Center for Non-Violence, Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, Habitat for Humanity and Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, each received $150.
