DL Hughley began his stand-up comedy ca- reer in the late 1980s, quickly making a name for himself with his sharp wit and observational humor.
The comic gained widespread recognition as the original host of BET’s “ComicView” from 1992 to 1993. His big career break came with the creation of “The Hughleys,” a sitcom loose- ly based on his own life, which aired from 1998 to 2002.

Blackberry Smoke at Horseshoe Aug. 3
TUNICA — Blackberry Smoke is coming to Horseshoe Tunica to perform live at the casino’s Bluesville Showcase Nightclub on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Blackberry Smoke’s newly released album, Be Right Here, has made quite a splash and features the song “Dig A Hole.” The important song was formed by an old guitar riff married with a Wur- litzer chorus riff written by keyboardist Brandon Still. This swampy psychedel- ic-rock song makes a powerful state- ment about choosing your path in life— whether you want to give into temptation or walk a more righteous road.
Right Here and the song sets the tone for another expansive set of rock ‘n’ roll from Blackberry Smoke.
As always, the popular Georgia-based band—Charlie Starr, Still, guitarist/vo- calist Paul Jackson, bassist/vocalist Rich- ard Turner, and drummer Brit Turner— draws inspiration from Southern rock, blues-leaning classic rock and rootsy vin- tage country.
Working once again with Gram- my-Award winning producer Dave Cobb, Blackberry Smoke has crafted mu- sic that’s raw and immediate-sounding with Be Right Here. They tracked the al- bum live in the same space; an approach

Cobb also prefers as it lends itself to a looser vibe. “I remember different times I would say, ‘I think we should redo that,’ and he’s like, ‘No, leave it that way. That way it’s magical,” Starr remembers. “It’s just as natural and real as possible.”
Over the past two decades, Blackber- ry Smoke has amassed a loyal fanbase, leading their last five full-length albums to achieve great success, including 2021’s You Hear Georgia, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart.
The band wrote and recorded You Hear Georgia during the most intense periods of the pandemic, but the group held off on releasing it until they could go tour again.
Starr said Blackberry Smoke took the same deliberate approach with their latest work, Be Right Here, which was recorded in late 2022 and early 2023. See black- berrysmoke.com for more information about the band.
