the three entrées offered that comes with a dinner salad, the daily vegetable, potato choice and roll. The Gulf shrimp are lightly breaded and cooked when ordered, coated with a seasoning mix created by Chef Hatcher. No wonder the shrimp tastes so good. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which included a generous serving of the shrimp, with mashed potatoes and fried okra.
Our dinner also included The Diner’s signature steak house burger: a juicy hamburger patty with sautéed onions and mushrooms, two pieces of bacon, Swiss cheese and The Diner’s house steak sauce. Served on a toasted bun, the burger is dressed with lettuce, tomato and pickles, and served with onion rings or fries. The patty was perfectly prepared, the bacon crisp and all the toppings melded nicely together making this truly a signature burger.
We opted for the fries as we indulged and had the onion rings for our starter. The fries were crisp and crunchy, and the thick-cut beer-battered onion rings were golden-brown and delicious. There was ketchup but also a side of ranch for a cool bite.
The chef’s popular soup of the week — chicken wild rice when we were there — is a must-have. Hatcher, who has been called the “Queen of Soup,” makes all the soups from scratch. We have to say, the Queen did it again with this combination of big chunks of chicken, vegetables and rice all in a garlicky, creamy broth.
The Diner also has tuna salad on

assorted greens, the classic chef’s and the blackened chicken breast salad. Sandwiches, such as the club, BLT, and grilled or fried chicken, are served with fries and coleslaw. We tried the overstuffed Reuben — corned beef, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing on rye — and felt like we were in an East Coast diner. There is also the Southern Philly cheese steak (brown gravy and crispy shrimp) and the Philly cheese steak (onions, peppers and cheese sauce).
The casual restaurant is an ideal first stop at the property, a quiet break from casino play or a visit before heading to your hotel room. The Diner is open Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Across from The Diner is the Sweet Stop where guests can get house-made gelato, ice cream, and custard in a variety of flavors, along with fudge, pralines, turtles, and other favorites. The Sweet Stop offers a variety of chocolate-covered strawberries, mini bundt cakes and cake pops. Flavors include strawberry, red
