Chairman of Banking, Corporate & Investment RBanking, Wells Fargo & Company
  Rob Engel is the chairman of Banking for Wells Fargo’s Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). CIB is comprised of industry, regional and specialty coverage, equity
and debt capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate lending, portfolio management, and treasury management.
Before chairing the banking functions for CIB, Engel served as head of banking and co-president of Wells Fargo Securities. He initially joined Wells Fargo in 2005 as the head of M&A, and in 2008, he began leading investment banking and capital markets. Engel has more than 35 years of corporate and investment banking experience, providing clients across industries with advice and execution for capital structure solutions, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Engel helped establish Gleacher Partners, an independent corporate advisory
firm headquartered in New York, in 1990. At Gleacher, Engel was a managing director and head of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring. In 2000, he opened Gleacher’s office in London. Before joining Gleacher, he worked at the merchant bank Morgan Grenfell in London and New York for four years.
Engel graduated from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and earned a B.A. from Princeton University.
Over the course of his career, Engel has taken an active role as chairman of both the wholesale and Wells Fargo Securities Diversity & Inclusion Councils. Engel also takes an active interest in the community, serving on the boards of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Opera Carolina, Westminster Kennel Club Foundation, Charlotte City Center Partners, and St. Paul’s School in London.
