TEACHER QUALITY AND RETENTION PROGRAM (TQRP)
TQRP Transforms Classrooms And Elevates Educators
In 15 years of existence, hundreds of educators have been shaped by one of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund‘s (TMCF) signature programs, the Teacher Quality and Retention Program (TQRP).
Through investment in the professional development and leadership capacity of HBCU-educated teachers through targeted mentorship, training and support, TQRP equips fellows with enhanced instructional and leadership skills.
This investment in educators leads to improved classroom effectiveness and career advancement opportunities, which results in stronger student achievement and the development of K-12 education leaders who can create systemic change.
TQRP fellows demonstrate notable outcomes, with a 91% retention rate in the field and high rates of leadership advancement (75% by year four), recognition rate (46% receiving awards) and superior performance evaluations (62% rated more proficient).
These outcomes create a multiplier effect, as TQRP fellows impact both their immediate students and, through their leadership roles, influence broader educational practices and outcomes.
TQRP creates change at multiple levels—transforming individual teachers into educational leaders while simultaneously improving and strengthening the education system and outcomes, particularly in communities served by HBCU graduates.
