SEVENTH-ANNUAL
The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) convened 30
of its member school presidents and chancellors from the nation’s publicly supported historically Black colleges and uni- versities (HBCUs) and predominantly Black institutions (PBIs) in Washington D.C. to meet with key legislators and government officials.
The annual event included sessions on the TMCF value prop- osition, HBCU sustainability, capacity-building opportunities and the advocacy agenda for our nation’s HBCUs, PBIs and their students.
Special guests included Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT); Senator Tim Scott (R-SC); Senator Ralphael Warnock (D-GA); Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL); Senator Ted Budd (R-NC); Senator Katie Britt (R-AL); John Boozman (R-AR); HBCU Caucus Co- Chair and Founder Congresswoman Alma Adams (D-NC); Carla Hyden, the 14th Librarian of Congress; Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY); Congresswoman Rosa DeLau- ro (D-CT), Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA), Congresswoman Alma Adam (D-NC), Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH); Congresswoman Shiela Jackson-Lee (D-TX); author and journalist Adam Harris; and TIAA CEO & President Thasunda Brown Duckett.
