SOAR
The TMCF SOAR (Seeking, Observing, and Achieving Results) program uses a multi-year approach to prepare students for life beyond K-12 educational experiences by championing students to explore and determine a pathway after high school, engaging students in academic, professional and leadership development to aid in a successful transition to college and/or the workforce, and providing continued support through all things TMCF.
SOAR promotes students’ ability to develop the necessary skills for success in college and beyond through an emphasized focus on: academic and career opportunities, professional and leadership development, financial literacy and personal development.
THE PITCH
The Pitch identifies entrepreneurial talent and trains future innovators from HBCUs in skills needed to generate economic success through their own business or within today’s knowledge driven organizations.
The four-day program provided nearly 90 students representing 33 HBCUs and PBIs with resources and knowledge to bridge the business-building gap for HBCU students. The Pitch is a place where technology meets business acumen connecting “techie” students – i.e., those who have an interest in building mobile

apps and developing and utilizing their technical skills – with business-minded students who are aspiring entrepreneurs.
“When we first started our group, we were like, this is an excellent idea, and we can take this, but seeing it happen, and win is wild. I have no words. The challenging part is we had a finite problem, and there were so many different parts that go into that problem and make a simple solution that people could buy into. We went through three ideas in about 10 minutes and got our creative thoughts together that could be seen in
the real world. This experience was everything to me”
