LEGACY
The Walter Anderson Museum o Art in Ocean Springs celebrates Walter's legacy, showcasing his nature-inspired paintings, murals block prints, and immersive installations alongside rotating exhibitions, education programs, and community events.
At the historic L&N Depot,
the Realizations shop offers a selection of silk-screened prints and printed clothing and textiles featuring the unique blockprint designs of Walter Anderson.
Shearwater Pottery was established in 1928 and still operates today using the fundamentals taught to them by the Anderson brothers, Peter, Walter, and Mac. Each piece of pottery is created individually, and each has its own unique features.
Summer here is not a single event or moment
on the calendar—it is a stretch of time filled with
possibilities. Through the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street, this season is being shaped into an experience that encourages both visitors and locals to slow down long enough to see what is often missed in a hurry.
That vision comes to life through two signature initiatives: the “99 Days of Summer” campaign and the Pelican Pound Coin Program—each designed to highlight local businesses, encourage exploration, and deepen the connection
between people and place. Together, they reflect a
simple but powerful goal: to help people discover
Ocean Springs in a way that feels personal,
memorable, and joyful.
The Anderson family— including painter Walter Anderson and his brother Peter, master potter of Shearwater Pottery—left a lasting artistic legacy on the Gulf Coast.
