Huntington Learning Center’s Owner/Director Pam Pannell is inspired by the center’s mission to give every student the best education possible. “That mission aligns perfectly with mine. Therefore, owning a center gives me the opportunity to merge my passion for education and my desire for a new challenge,” she says.
After a teaching career in public and Catholic education, she is elated about her new endeavor that will allow her and her amazing team to impact students of all ages. “I have counted it as a success any time I have been able to make a difference by enhancing a student’s mind or character through teaching them a new skill or strategy, tugging at their heartstrings, helping them repair a friendship, or motivating them to be the best version of themself.”
Pannell lists other successes in her life. “Marrying Walt, who is the best husband, father, banker, and grill master ever; raising my three favorite blessings, Mary Porter, Marley, and Holden; successfully defending my dissertation among
a committee of highly respected professors; and helping students meet their full potential both in academics and character,” she says.
However, obstacles will always arise, but she says to let your “why” drive you to persevere to get through the tough stuff. Her advice to young women is to have God as their guide. “Sweat the small stuff... paying attention to details makes the difference in education, relationships, and success however you may define that,” she says.
Pannell and her husband did mission work in Africa and still have ties to an orphanage in Nairobi. She can connect anyone interested to an amazing organization, Global Connections.
