often do the trick. Finally, being thankful is the most important way to rejuvenate my spirit.”
Ashlei Johnson
is sales and marketing director at South Beach Hotel in Biloxi. “If I’m not at work, you can find me on the boat with my family. Any free time we get we are boating and enjoying our beautiful islands and rivers,” she says of her way to unplug.
For motivation, Johnson likes having the ability to
come up with creative new ideas and being able to make improvements to existing concepts. “Watching my thoughts and ideas improve an existing concept motivates me because it shows that I can make a difference and that
my skills are an asset to my work place,” she adds. “I’m
a ‘there’s got to be a way’ type of person. I have created
beautiful events and meetings under crazy circumstances and I’m proud to be an out-of-the- box thinker.”
As owner of Bubbles & Bows, Ashley Kerr sometimes encounters some loud
howlers with the dog grooming business she opened in 2009. She takes it all in stride because she likes the freedom and independence of owning a business rather than working for a corporation.
“More time and flexibility for my family are great,” Kerr says. “When not working, I relax and enjoy traveling
with my family and hitting the beach.”
Another shop
owner, Mimi
Parker Thomas
opened Parkers Jewelry
and Gifts in Pass Christian
in 1991 and is celebrating 30 years
of business. Prior to that, she had a store in New Orleans for nine years.
“I chose The Pass because my family has been coming
here for generations.
My great
grandfather, Gov. John M. Parker, hosted his dear friend Teddy Roosevelt at his home in The Pass in 1915,” Thomas says.
“I love spending
time with family and
friends, especially near
the water. To relax, I love
playing with my pet bunny, Cuddles, and watching the deer graze in my backyard. Other things that help me relax are needlepointing and watching Hallmark movies.”
Linda Rosetti has been the owner of The Pink Rooster/ Gallery Garbo in Ocean Springs for 10 years. She’s also worked with her husband, Clell Rosetti, as co-owner of Quality Poultry and Seafood in Biloxi for 38 years.
“When not working, I like to walk in my garden,” she says. “My parents gave me a great love for nature and creating. They instilled in my heart a strong spirit and compassion for living each day to the fullest with a positive attitude. For this I am very blessed.”
Rosetti adds that a stroll through her gallery surrounded by the beautiful work of so many talented artists keeps her promoting these artists and motivates her to create art.
