REFRESH

Ladies who lunch is a term sometimes used for women of leisure. But these days maybe it should be ladies who hit the refresh button. Some of the Coast’s busy business women share how they relax.
J anice Guido, owner of Bay Life Gifts in Bay St. Louis, opened her shop six years ago. “After
work, I go down to Washington Pier to see
the water and then head home to sit by my pond in my garden and sip ice tea where I’m usually joined by my two pups,” she says. “My
motivation involves keeping my mind sharp and my
body active after retirement and as I age.”
Guido also
enjoys rearranging or unpacking merchandise and looking online for new unique gifts for the shop and meeting with young artists or craftsmen to consider and encourage their
work. “In between I am talking to visitors about where to eat or visit while
on our Coast as well as answering their questions about
our area,” she says. “My Shop motivates me to constantly study how to succeed financially in small town seasonal retail.”

since 1980 and still
loves every minute.
“Like any job, what
we do certainly has its
moments of difficulty; however, the good more often outweighs the unpleasant,” she says.
When she’s able to unwind and disconnect from the day, Eaton likes to drive down the beach front. “Taking in the vastness of the Gulf, I often think ‘people pay to come enjoy where I live’ and I’m thankful for the beauty,” she said. “For a heavier dose of rejuvenation, I find getting my hands in dirt helps. I love flowers and my back porch is full of them. My porch, the flowers, a rocker and a strong cup of coffee
