A native of Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Phillips graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine,
where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and the Alpha Omega Medical Honor Society. Dr. Phillips completed her ophthalmology training at the University of Maryland, after which she completed a competitive fellowship
in oculoplastic surgery accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons at the University
of Tennessee Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis, Tennessee and the Vanderbilt Eye Institute in Nashville, Tennessee.
In March 2020, Dr. Phillips and her family moved to Gulfport to start her solo medical practice. She brings almost 10 years of experience as an oculoplastic surgeon to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Oculoplastic surgeons are board certified ophthalmologists with advanced training to
handle the complex issues that arise around the eye, which tend to affect the aging patients most. These can range from repair of droopy eyelids to complex skin cancer repairs, treatment of chronic infections around the eye, and treatment for potentially blinding or painful issues.
Prior to Dr. Phillips being in Gulfport full time, patients needing this type of specialty medical care had to drive 75+ miles to Mobile, Jackson, or New Orleans. Needless to say, Dr. Phillips has filled a vital need in this community and has been welcomed by patients and fellow physicians alike.
Obviously, Dr. Phillips’ passions center around her role as an oculoplastic surgeon, but she enjoys spending her free time outside when she is not working. She loves swimming with her children. She also loves cycling and is looking forward to upcoming rides in Lake Tahoe and Blackberry Farms.
