Weight Center provided the Lannings with everything they needed to succeed, including educational courses and positive encouragement. The two have embraced the process, meal prepping together, supporting one another and, sometimes, getting just a little bit competitive.
“It made it so much easier to meal prep through the di erent stages,” said Ana. “And, since we are both a little competitive, it was fun to try and out-do the other in weight loss or accomplishing activities we couldn’t before. We are almost two years post-op, and we are still sharing meals and competing!”
“We took the rst steps of the rest of our lives together that day, and we’vekept”takinghealthystepsevery day since.

Jay is now over 100 pounds down from his heaviest weight, and Ana has lost 120 pounds (Ana’s in the lead, not that we’re counting...) and are happier and healthier than ever. “I can breathe, and grandbabies now have to chase me!” said Ana. “And best of all is knowing that my husband, my best friend and the love of my life, is on the same journey with me.”
“Funny as it may seem, my wife being able to wrap her arms around me when we share a hug has been one of the best experiences since this surgery,” Jay said with a smile. “That and being able to tie my shoes!”
The South Mississippi Surgical Weight Loss Center has been helping men and women like Jay and Ana Lanning to meet their weight loss goals since their formation in 2000. Founded by South Mississippi Surgeons (SMS), they have been providing the Coast with quality surgical care for over 30 years.
