perfectly seasoned. The French bread accompaniment was slathered in butter and baked to a crisp with fresh garlic, rosemary and red pepper flake embellishments. It completely stole the show.
From the first bite of their from- scratch green beans, I could tell this was going to be an experience. Often, side dishes are left as an afterthought to a plate, but these were very obviously crafted with care.
The lasagna, one of the many casserole-style offerings at Fallon’s,
was one of my top picks. Interestingly not layered with ricotta, but instead
a healthy layer of sauce from their cream pastas, this lasagna is perfectly balanced in every way. The noodles float atop the layers of marinara
and sauce while the hand-crafted mozzarella oozes over the edges. Thyme and rosemary adorn the top for a refreshing contrast, complementing the herbs noted in the homemade marinara sauce.
Broccoli and cheese casseroles are another tricky dish to perfect, often riding the line between artificially cheesy and terribly bland. Once again, Fallon knocked it out of the park. Fresh broccoli, blended and grated cheeses and garlic melt together to form a comforting and transformative dish.
Black eyed peas, lima beans, sweet potato casserole, banana pudding. Any of the hot plates available for the lunch special wouldn’t have been out of place in most childhood kitchens in the South. With offerings that you can take home and feed the family, Fallon’s offers a truly home cooked meal for those who want a true taste of Southern cuisine.
