GULF COAST VETERINARY EMERGENCY HOSPITAL 8144 East Oaklawn Rd., Biloxi 228.392.7474 www.gulfcoastveter.com
As a doctor at Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital, Jennifer Sutton is capable of handling animals that require
more specialized services, such as blood transfusions, oxygen therapy, and complex surgical procedures. She is well-known in the community for her philanthropic efforts and compassionate nature, recently receiving the 2019 SBA Small Business Administration Person of the year for Mississippi, but she is more comfortable operating behind the scenes than in the spotlight.
Since 2017, she and her husband Jeff have made a commitment to the Gulf Coast community to be part of the solution to the issues of animal neglect and overpopulation. Working with several local non-pro t rescue groups, Sutton performs low cost spay and neutering,
veterinary care and health certi cation, which enables
the animals to travel on a “love train” to other parts of
the country –potentially thousands of miles away – for adoption.
While a vast majority of these animals are feral cats in traps, rescue and foster animals, there are also
those that are cared for by the homeless, senior citizens and indigent families. “In 2018 alone, we successfully performed more than 1,000 low cost spay and neuter surgeries and returned these animals to their feral colonies, owners, or new homes,” Sutton said. “We are on pace to do even more surgeries than last year.”
Sutton’s heart is for the animals, which can be seen in the business practices of her veterinary hospital. Her mission is to provide an unparalleled facility and skilled staff members. She
is dedicated to delivering exceptional emergency and critical care to small and exotic animals, extraordinary customer service
to their owners and unprecedented veterinary support for their veterinarians along the greater Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coast region.
“Science has proven that those who love and care for animals have lower rates of depression, hypertension, stress and other emotional, mental, social and psychological bene ts,” said Sutton. “What an honor it is to care for people through their pets!”
