There are almost 900 miles between Columbus, Ohio and Gulfport. But for Dr. Philip Myers, Mississippi Orthopaedic Institute’s new orthopaedic surgeon, South Mississippi has been on his mind for a long time. In fact, his love for the Coast started long before his fellowship at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, which he left in August to move to Gulfport with his wife, Christina Myers, CNP.

very happy to be here,” Myers said. “When I was in medical school in Kentucky, one of
my good buddies was from Ocean Springs. We started coming down and doing some fishing and
I just fell in love with
the area – it’s beautiful. The people are just wonderful to interact with. When we were looking at jobs, my wife and I specifically targeted this area of the country because I had grown to love it so much over the past 10 years.” Myers completed his residency at Grandview Medical
News and World Report as one of the best new hospitals in America. With his extensive training and experience with these outstanding health providers
he is equipped to offer a full line of orthopedic services. Including, but not limited to pediatric orthopaedics, trauma surgery, joint replacements, arthroscopic surgeries, hand surgeries, and sports medicine.
Myers has also published studies on orthopaedic surgery and the effects it has on obese patients as
well the mortality rate associated with distal femur fractures in elderly patients. He said he looks forward to bringing his areas of expertise to the Mississippi Orthopaedic Institute.
