The Wayward Kraken by no means has an identity crisis. It’s a dive bar, nerd mecca, gastro pub, punk rock, gaming positive, board game-loving institution that offers something for everyone – especially fans of Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, Game of Thrones, DC Comics and even Star Trek. It’s a spot where not only does everyone know your name, they also know your fandom, and the staff will be more than happy to engage you in a conversation about film, art, music, comics and whatever makes you happy. And by the way, the food is fantastic.
Cannonblue Lalley, here forth referred to as CB, and LB Wilson III opened the Kraken in January 2017. CB, who is a Coast native and also a photographer, said the bar’s name came about quickly.
“It’s not from Clash of The Titans, although we love Clash of The Titans,” CB said. “I wanted something that was coastal and I said, ‘How about The Wayward Kraken?’ That’s what we named it and we never looked back. We have every fandom that you can think of but D&D is what makes this place special – it’s our bread and butter.”
