HOME island view
This isn’t your average screen porch; it’s like a second living space. “Danny and I love coming out here to relax and enjoy the view,” said Stacy. “When the grandchildren come over, they can play and nap in the living room and we can still watch them from here.”
The Sabbatinis live for their grandchildren Parker, 4, and Atley, 2. They enjoy spending time together, especially on the water. “On one of their visits, we were lucky enough to see a pod of porpoises swimming out in the Gulf,” Stacy said. “Our grandchildren just loved it, and it’s a great memory we will always have together.”
Back inside the home, the décor includes coastal artwork that is reminiscent of the area as well
as some pieces that aren’t by recognizable artists. The couple moved back home to Ocean Springs following Danny’s retirement from UPS, but had previously lived in Atlanta.
The mix of different southern styles adds an element of interest to the home, as do the unique light fixtures. “We purchased
the lighting for the home from Magnolia Lighting, and though
I was urged to put a chandelier over the master bath, I just knew that wasn’t what I wanted,” Stacy said. The fixture she
chose instead is a geometric style with a metallic finish that casts a beautiful shadow across the lighter toned hues of the bathroom.
While many of the details of the home were left to Stacy, she took to heart the guidance of Loretta Ellis, an interior designer from Jackson. “Loretta had helped me decorate our last home, and a
lot of those pieces made it into this home as well,” Stacy said. She and Ellis still keep in touch, and it’s clear that Stacy picked up a lot of great tips from the designer.
The Sabbatinis put a lot of work into the planning and design of their home, making each and every decision along the way. Building a house from scratch is hard work, but Stacy and Danny have been happily married for 38 years, and Danny knew just how to make Stacy’s vision come to life. The high school sweethearts are in love with the home they’ve created and say they wouldn’t change a thing.
