Runway!
A WEEK IN FASHION THROUGH THE EYES OF COASTAL WOMEN
story by Susan Ruddiman photos by Katherine Sowers
The Bacot McCarty Foundation is taking another direction this fall for fundraising. Renaissance the Runway! makes its debut on Sept. 29 in Studio A at IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi, co-sponsor of the show.
“We will feature Gulf Coast women, telling their story through a week in their lives with local fashions,” said Kimberly Cox Rasmussen, director of programs at Bacot McCarty
Foundation.
The fashions shown will depict local people in their everyday
lives during a week — from what to wear to work, to a party, at home and for leisure.
Providing the coastal fashions will be Back on the Rack, Elle
Boutique, Gatlin’s, Jensa Jo’s Jewelry, Jubilee, Lee Tracy, S.F. Alman, The Bay Collection, Ivy Boutique, The Radish Loft, Belk of Gautier and White Willow.
Proceeds from Renaissance the Runway! will go to five nonprofit organizations — Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), The DREAM Program, Gulf Coast Youth Symphony, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center and Rock U 2 Foundation.
Youth who participate in these programs will provide the entertainment. Prior to the fashion show there will be an Eight Days a Week Silent Auction. Rebecca Powers will serve as mistress of ceremony, and hair and makeup will be provided by Chris’ Beauty College.
