The Biloxi Shuckers were busy getting beachy during the off-season. The 2024 season debuted a brand-new look for
the right field seating that includes a tiki bar with table seating near the foul pole. Next door is a strip of beach seating. Just above the wall is a sandy area with beach chairs and umbrellas. Behind that, more bar seating. Near the center field is a new splash pad for kids featuring more than 20 ground sprays.
There are also new concession stands and a new grab-and-go system for sodas, water, and beer, allowing fans to quickly pay for drinks instead of waiting in lines. The entire facility also has new paintings, wraps, signs, and a mural in and around the park.
As of April, Finishline Performance Karting has a new $1 million attraction, an 18-hole golf course that hugs the L-shaped area along U.S. 90 and McConnell Avenue, in front of one of the kart tracks and below the zipline tower. The mini golf course follows a $2 million expansion that added a free fall ride and ziplines that zoom over the track.

JUST IN TIME
FOR THE
HOLIDAYS?
The eagerly anticipated first Mississippi Buc-ee’s is well ahead of the construction schedule along Interstate 10 in Harrison County and is now predicted to open by Thanksgiving, just in time for the holiday season. The store – which is expected
to create 200 new jobs – will ultimately result in the widening of Interstate 10 to six lanes from Diamondhead to Long Beach, with the funding provided by the federal infrastructure bill. Harrison County invested $15 million to rebuild the intersection at the I-10 exit to accommodate the additional traffic created by the massive travel center as well as new businesses.
The Flagship City opened a $21 million new retail shopping center in April with three anchor stores, including ALDI grocery store, TJ Maxx department store, and Rack Room Shoes. Five Below novelty store and Burlington department store followed in May. The shopping center on U.S. 90 between Lowe’s and Walmart recently announced a Starbucks and a Smoothie King are on the way.
