Local Vet Tech Nominated for B Hero Vet Award
ehind every hero pet is a Hero Veterinarian or Hero Veterinary Nurse. That’s the motto of American Humane, an organization dedicated
to ensuring the safety, welfare and well-being of animals. Each year, American Humane hosts the Hero Veterinarian and Hero Veterinary Nurse Awards.
One of only  ve national  nalists in the Hero Veterinary Nurse category is the Coast’s own Lacey King, a vet tech

is, of course, an animal lover  rst and foremost, and is known for her generous spirit and healing touch.
King was nominated by
the award by her husband and fellow animal lover, Faron King. “Lacey has been devoted to taking care of any animal’s needs since she was a small child,” her husband wrote. “Currently,
their trust. This is her passion, and she’s been in the vet world since she was 16. My wife is amazing at what she does and tells me at least once a week, ‘It’s not work if you love what you do.’ She is our hero!”
When she’s not working, King can usually be found volunteering at local shelters where she prepares health certi cates so foster animals can go to their fur-ever homes. Not only does she help rescues vaccinate foster pets and place them on heartworm and  ea preventatives, she educates the foster parents as well. Sometimes, foster animals make their way into King’s own home – in addition to the three children,  ve dogs, three cats, and numerous chickens and turkeys that she already cares for.
“I’m truly, truly grateful to be nominated,” King said. “There were like 250 nominations and out of the 250, I’m in the top  ve so I’m extremely happy and excited about it.”
One winning Hero Veterinarian and Hero Veterinary Nurse will be featured on the 2020 American Humane Hero Dog Awards broadcast on Hallmark Channel this fall. Vote for Lacey King now through August 13 at www. herovetawards.org!
