Stephen Farrow, MD, MBA-AEC, CPE, FACP Executive Director
Dr. Stephen Farrow is NDORI’s new Executive Director. Dr. Farrow has 30 years of federal and academic experience as an internist, endocrinologist, and geriatrician, including direct-care and national executive service with the Department of Veterans A airs. His research and quality-improvement experience includes human performance research with the Navy’s Fighter Weapons School and Special Warfare divisions, basic and clinical civilian studies in hypertension and diabetes, and funded work on clinical decision support and enhanced facility-clinician-patient communication. Dr. Farrow is looking forward to helping NDORI make
a visible di erence by researching cures for diabetes
& obesity, contributing to our community of health
care professionals, and boosting the economy through medical industrial development.
What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you? I climbed La muela del Diablo, the Devil’s Molar, which is 3825 meters tall while researching African-American hypertension in Bolivia.
Mark D. Borchelt, MD, FACE
Endocrinologist

Having practiced medicine for 32 years, Dr. Borchelt has gained invaluable experience in the areas of internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism. As an endocrinologist with NDORI, his main goal is to help patients manage their conditions in a safe and e ective manner.
His inspiration comes from his mentor, Dr. Byron Hoogwerf, who taught him that diabetes management is more than just managing the blood sugar. Dr. Borchelt believes that patients should take an active role in their health care and know that they are encouraged to ask questions.
Dr. Borchelt is a member of the American Diabetes Association and serves as an adjunct clinical professor at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Borchelt enjoys shing.
What is something that’s on your bucket list?
I would love to y a P51D Mustang.
