What does practicing medicine mean to you?
until my medical residency in Chattanooga that I saw an allergist. I did a clinical rotation with Dr. Marc Cromie at the Chattanooga Allergy Clinic, and he ended up treating my allergies and asthma. Under his care, I was able to maintain good control of my symptoms initially with daily medica- tions and eventually with allergy shots alone. I was able to do things I enjoyed, such as playing soccer and gol ng, without having to worry about my allergies or asthma. Knowing the improvement I felt, I was encouraged to pursue a career as an allergist to hopefully help my patients in the same way.
It means I’m able to help my patients feel as good as they can. I am thank- ful we have a lot of preventative therapies in our speciality that will allow our patients to maintain good control of their symptoms without having to limit their activities.
When it comes to health, what is one thing you wish that your patients knew?
As an allergist, I want my patients to know they don’t have to su er from their allergies or asthma. From mild, irritating symptoms to more severe issues, we generally have treatment options to maintain good control.
What do you like to do when it’s time to unwind?
Who or what inspired you to pursue your career?
I enjoy woodworking in my spare time and recently built a dining table for our home. I currently work out of half of our garage, but one day I hope to have a fully out tted workshop.
