Why do businesses choose to locate downtown? The downtown areas of Coast cities are special places full of charm and characteristics making each community unique. When shops and restaurants line the streets, residents and visitors enjoy the special attention that small business owners are able to give them.
Since 1994, Harbor View Café has been feeding hungry diners delicious seafood po-boys, burgers and pastas for which they’ve become well known. Originally located in Pass Christian and destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, Harbor View reopened off
the water in Long Beach. In 2011, a new building was constructed in downtown Long Beach, just one block off the water. Earlier this year, Robert Bass and Tom Sawyer purchased the café, and Stephanie Bass currently manages the restaurant.
“For me, it’s very important to be downtown because this is the center of our city,” says Stephanie Bass. “People gather for events and celebrations on Jeff Davis Avenue all the time, and I’m glad Harbor View Café has a prime spot to serve the people of the Coast and visitors while being able to participate in the fun.”
Harbor View’s new management hopes to carry on the name and traditions to which diners have become accustomed.
