Surprise them with a new fluffy towel
or plushy bath robe. Facial masks, manicures, and pedicures are on the menu. Who really knows what cucumbers do for the eyes, but why not indulge? Save leftover cukes and make finger sandwiches for afternoon tea. If the fellows aren’t
into spa indulgences, suggest they pamper themselves with a trip to the barber for a fresh shave and a haircut. Or maybe it is time to set up a garage workout corner with new hand weights and a pull up bar.
Explore far away places and plan future fabulous vacations without leaving home. Do some reading and research
on places you would like to visit and turn your kitchen into an international restaurant, cooking cuisine from all the places still on the bucket list. Take the
family to a different world by creating a cultural dining experience no one will forget. Decorate the table, provide some music from the region, and even dress the part of a world traveler on an exciting adventure. And if traveling to exotic places from your kitchen doesn’t sound like something you want to do, close the kitchen for a week and eat out! Give the chef a much-needed break.
Getting some simple little honey-do chores done while you are home is always an option. But take it easy. Anything much more than rearranging the furniture, can wipe out the benefits of a good staycation. If a small project really needs some attention, consider asking the kids to get involved. There’s no substitute for time spent together.
Vacations bring out the best in all of us. Grownups are more relaxed, and kids just want to have fun, never wanting the good days to end. Everyone is happy. Enjoy your vacation or your staycation this year. Sleep late, pamper yourself, eat your favorite foods, and say “yes” more than you say “no” for a few days.
