“We are so excited to share our hard work and vision of this gallery with the best community on the planet.”
The Weisses are dedicated to using their gallery to showcase local, Mississippi
art. “The style of art is local and contemporary local as we get started. We will feature beautiful paintings in many di erent medias and many di erent themes, spectacular photography focusing on our local nature, unbelievable turned wood pieces, and splendid ceramics that are both whimsical and magni cent,” Hyla said – and that’s just to start! They are excited to expand their artist pool as they nd more who suit their gallery’s intent.
Another part of what makes My Happy Place Gallery special is the couple’s true love of art. Ray’s interest in woodturning comes from meeting Keith Rueckert, one
of the artists featured in My Happy Place, at the Peter Anderson Festival years ago. Hyla’s passion for ceramics was sparked by local ceramics artist Lisa Fazzio’s work, whose work she carried in On the Menu and from whom she began taking classes. They fuel their passions both by creating their own art and by supporting the local art community, as both Ray and Hyla work full-time in other businesses.
They cite a quote from Camille Pissarro, a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo- Impressionist painter, as how they feel about art: “Blessed are those who see beautiful things in humble places where others see nothing.” They see art as personal, that great art touches emotions ahead of the price or artist’s fame. “For
us, art is how you make a house a home,” Ray said.
“We are so excited to share our hard work and vision of this gallery with the best community on the planet,” Hyla said. So why not nd your happy place at My Happy Place?
