hen it comes to emergency medical services (EMS), American Medical Response (AMR) is a household name, and for good reason. Since 1974, AMR and its predecessor companies AMSERV and Mobile Medic have served the Mississippi Gulf Coast, helping to evolve and improve
modern emergency medical and ambulance services along the way.

“We consider ourselves pioneers in the state of Mississippi,” said Regional EMS Director Chris Cirillo. “AMR was the first ambulance service to equip its vehicles with air conditioning, and for several years operated Mississippi’s only RN-staffed ground ambulance for intensive care and critical care patients. As industry leaders, we have always done our best to help shape and create new and improved standards of care.”
In fact, members of AMR’s leadership team helped to write the first laws and regulations for ambulance services in the state. Since then, they’ve continued to spread their knowledge to others, helping to develop the first formal state curriculum for paramedics and offering classes to state law enforcement officers that train them to be first responders in the event of a medical emergency.
