Coastal Chic
Sara Reymond, who owns Sara Kate Boutique in downtown Pass Christian, says the coastal style of the home
was inspired by WaterColor and Seaside in Florida. “We fell in love and got married in WaterColor and we vacation there.”
The couple purchased a lot of antique wooden doors and had those in mind, along with other specific ideas, when they met with architect Leah Watters.
She designed the home around these parameters and it was built in 2018.
The home’s impressive front facade includes an iron gate from Hungary and garage doors custom made on site. Steps lead to the massive 13-foot front doors and several French doors that Sara says were painstakingly taken apart and re-assembled. The porch
is paved with brick, which she notes is unusual for an elevated home. She
explains that the interior ceiling had to be 14 feet in the foyer to accommodate the height of the front door. The foyer ceiling of ‘dirty top cypress’ is eye catching along with the reclaimed pine flooring.
“We kind of got carried away with shiplap,” Sara says of the interior walls. The soft coastal colors and accent pieces give the living room a relaxing feeling. Here and elsewhere
There are numerous factors that make the Pass Christian home of Sara and Charlie Reymond outstanding. First is the location overlooking a peaceful canal with a view of the
Bay of St. Louis in the distance. Second are the beautiful antique doors lending their charm and character from another era. But not to be overlooked are the soaring ceilings and decorating
scheme of impeccable taste.
