thing to do. This is again a simple dish, but
it’s working class hearty and delicious. The specials for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are po-boys, always served pressed and always served dressed. Tradition has it that the pressed po-boy — a po-boy toasted in what looks like
a miniature laundry press — was invented in Biloxi. Any local resident will tell you that if it isn’t pressed, it isn’t right.
Some of the sides you can enjoy at Rena’s include potato, tuna, chicken, and egg salad, and a cup of gravy for those who need their po-boy swimming in gravy. You also might enjoy the BLT and grilled cheese sandwich, two American classic lunch time treats, as well as a ham, turkey, or club sandwich.
Rena’s is a Biloxi tradition, and it’s a testament to its good and simple food that it thrives in the center of a town loaded with great lunch spots. The only testament to its longevity, other than the building itself and
its many regular customers, is the red Coca Cola clock on the wall. That’s all that survived Hurricane Karina.
You will not find white table cloths at Rena’s, or a wine list, but you will find a simple menu of great lunch time favorites. Are you in the mood for a po-boy or hearty daily special such as red beans and rice? Rena’s is just what you are looking for.
