There’s lots of exciting development in downtown Biloxi, especially in the restaurant scene. Just a few paces away from Casino Row you can find just about any style restaurant you could want, from house made pizzas to Gulf fresh seafood. But if you have been around Biloxi for a while and know some of the back ways and side streets, then surely you know that when the lunch time munches attack, Rena’s Deli is a great place to go for a quick lunch at an affordable price.
Rena’s has been around since 1991. The menu is a one pager that lists the sandwiches, po-boys, sides, and daily specials that you can count on to be available every day. Rena’s is in fact a small town diner with coastal flair. You
won’t find the fried chicken or mashed potatoes and gravy that an up-state diner would be sure to have, but you will find eight sandwiches or po-boys, including a roast beef and gravy po-boy that is the most popular selection on the menu. If you order it, just be sure to get plenty of napkins.
Monday’s special is spaghetti and meat sauce. It’s a simple dish, but why in the world would you want to make
a serious comfort food like this into anything else? Add a little parmesan cheese and it’s perfect. Tuesday’s special is red beans and rice, a dish made famous from the days when doing the wash took all day and putting red beans on the stove to cook while you labored over a wash pot was a sensible
