is throughout the cottage. The dining table has a banquette that features a cut- down boat oar on the end arm; a homage to Rogers’ legal career. Hanging above are more bright pieces of local art.
The kitchen area has a bar made of reclaimed wood with metal end pieces. The backsplash is sheet metal and the open wooden shelves are supported by wire and turn buckles — another nod to maritime law. “I tried to use metal in unusual ways,” the homeowner says.
The master bedroom has barn doors that open to a study where again there are metal pieces such as the two starburst mirrors. A particularly charming piece in the bedroom is the framed beaded necklace that Rogers acquired in Tanzania.
The guest bedroom is filled with natural light, industrial-style furniture and more art. Walls in the guest bath are painted a soft shade of lavender. There’s also an accent wall in sheet metal and a rectangular sink set into a stand made of reclaimed wood.
